Frequently Asked Questions

Reformer Pilates is a form of Pilates exercise performed on and around a specialised piece of equipment called a reformer, or reformer bed. The reformer is a frame-like apparatus with a sliding carriage, and adjustable springs and ropes.

During the session you will be instructed to lay, sit, kneel or stand on the carriage or platform and perform a series of exercises that target various muscle groups. Props such as a pilates ball, ring, and hand weights are also often used to further isolate or target muscle groups.

The springs provide the resistance for these movements and they can be adjusted to accommodate different levels of strength and ability.

Reformer Pilates is often practiced in a group class setting led by a trained instructor, but private sessions are also available. It is advisable to learn and practice Reformer Pilates under the guidance of a qualified instructor to ensure proper technique and maximize the benefits of the exercises.

How long do you have? Where do we begin?

Absolutely! We are a small studio specifically to allow us to support every individual no matter what stage of their pilates journey or experience level. Your instructor will be there to guide you and offer clear instruction throughout the entire class. You are in safe hands at Supple. We are a judgment free zone and safe space for you to come and learn the magic of Reformer Pilates.

We recommend wearing comfortable activewear with a significant amount of stretch that allows you to move and bend in every which way and doesn’t limit you. Fabrics should be breathable, but supportive. Clothes that hug the body are favourable so as to protect your privacy during positions which may make you feel exposed otherwise.

You will also need to wear a pair of grip socks.

Please refrain from wearing strong perfumes or aerosols out of respect for all of our members, or your fellow class attendees.

Tower Pilates is a low-impact workout using a wall-mounted frame with springs and bars, offering movements very similar to Reformer Pilates but with more focus on Contrology principles for precise, controlled motion. It’s perfect for all levels, blending mat exercises with gentle resistance to boost strength, flexibility, and posture. You’ll leave feeling stronger, more balanced, and aligned!

We recommend bringing yourself, your grip socks and a water bottle!
